The Client
Fortissimo is an Italian EdTech startup founded in Bolzano and winner of the Enterprise Europe Network Award 2023. The platform unites 23 opera houses, orchestras, and educational institutions from 14 European countries, with the mission of bringing classical music into schools through apps, gamification, and virtual reality. The project is funded under the NextGenerationEU programme and targets students aged 6 to 14 and their teachers.
The Project
The goal of this technical engagement was to enable Italian teachers to purchase courses on the Fortissimo platform using the Carta del Docente — the Italian government voucher for teacher training — opening a fully automated new sales channel.
The Middleware
The core of the system is a custom .NET middleware built with ShopifySharp, acting as a bridge between Shopify and the government's Carta del Docente service. The middleware handles voucher validation, automatic discount application, and the full checkout flow — eliminating any manual intervention on the merchant's side.
Government Integration
Integration with the government service was implemented via SOAP, the protocol mandated by the Ministry's public API. The entire communication is fully automated: from the moment a teacher enters their voucher code, the system verifies, authorizes, and applies the benefit in real time.
Data Layer
Transaction tracking is managed on a SQLite backend with a robust state management system that guarantees data consistency and eliminates discrepancies between Shopify payment flows and government-side records.
Merchant Dashboard
The management interface was built with Remix and React on top of Shopify Polaris, Shopify's official design system. Merchants have full visibility over transaction status, payment configuration, and real-time monitoring of redeemed vouchers.
